ABOUT ASHLEY ROBIN
Ashley Robin is a NYC-based singer, songwriter, producer, and vocal coach.
Her relationship with music began at a young age. In fact if you ask her family, she’s been singing and making music since she was 2. She was a student of her environment, whether singing along with the jazz, R&B, and gospel music played at home, singing solos or training her ear in groups at church, or copying her older sister who also loved to sing.
Because she was surrounded by music, the knack she had for creating and performing was something she took for granted. This was until age 15, when she began attending LaGuardia High School in NYC as a vocal music major. After just one year there, she knew she wanted the rest of her life to be about music. Around this time, she also began to realize that there was a God-given purpose for her sound and creativity.
She began writing songs, tapping into her influences––soul, jazz, r&b, gospel––determined to write music that accurately carried the gospel, and was also uniquely hers, fresh, and innovative. As she began to write songs, she could often hear them fully arranged from beginning to end. In 2010, she started to record and produce songs from home on her laptop, and has been doing so ever since.
As a producer and songwriter, Ashley Robin believes in making the music that’s missing. Whatever her creative ear hears is what she brings. Genre is not a barrier, as her offerings span almost everything from contemporary gospel to pop to hip hop. Her vocals and songwriting remain honest and thoughtful no matter what sound she applies to them.
